Ken's Naperville Real Estate Blog : A QUARTER MILLION POINTS ON ACTIVE RAIN. WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

A QUARTER MILLION POINTS ON ACTIVE RAIN. WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

                                                 ActiveRain real estate agent network

I passed 250,000 points on the real estate website Active Rain the other day...

It makes me laugh.  Sounds like a lot of points.  A quarter million...

Wow.

The point system is the genius behind the success of Active Rain.  Without the points, I may have never gotten hooked on blogging and social media...

Who doesn't like to have a little competition?  And that competition created involvement.  It created dedicated writers.  Thousands of writers...

Writers like me.  People with things to say...

250,000 points.  I have heard points don't matter...

I say they do:

  • I am Active Rain's Featured agent in my city of Naperville, ranked #1.

  • I am Active Rain's Featured agent in Du Page County, ranked #1.

  • I am on the first page of Google for search terms including, "Naperville Realtor", "Naperville Real Estate", "realtor I can trust", "buying a home in Naperville", "selling a home in naperville" and about a million other searches regarding real estate in and around Naperville.

  • I am Naperville's "Top Neighbor" on Active Rain's sister website, Localism, "World's Most Complete Neighborpedia"...

  • My Active Rain profile has been viewed more than 15,000 times.  My posts have been read more then 200,000 times...

  • I generate 75% of my rapidly growing real estate business through my blogging activities...

250,000 points?  What does it mean?

I say a whole lot.

Ken

Hi Lyn, Judi, Bob and Kathryn.  Thanks so much for stopping by...

Blogging/social media isn't easy.  It takes work...

I talk w/ lots of people about getting started.  I always caution that it doesn't just happen...

You have to work at it.

If you do, you will be rewarded!

Thanks again,

Ken

Ken,

Your next competitor is lagging behind slightly.....she hasn't posted since Nov. 2008!  I don't think she has discovered the power that is in this little network.

shhhhh,  I won't tell.

Hi Greg, Paige, and Jim.  Thanks for reading.

Jim, it is funny.  She had the same number of points when I started writing two years ago.  It amazes me that more in Naperville aren't involved...

Thanks for reading,

Ken

I agree Ken ~ AR points do mean a lot. I just reached number 8 in Nevada and am number 1 in my area. I get better and better with each post I write, I believe, and I  owe it to all the helpful people who are part of the network who share and offer tips and advice on how to be better!

Congrats on your milestone.

I agree, the points system is genius, because most of us are competitive and it gives a measurable, quantifiable goal.  I have another blog I started a few months ago, but my AR blog gets my daily attention!

250,000 points is an impressive number.  There is no question the powers that be were onto something when they came up with the point system.  It keeps us interested and ever thinking of new ways to acquire more points to climb the ladder of AR success.  Congratulations!

Hey Ken,

Why do I sense we will see a sudden surge of market reports?  :)

P.S.  You do great market reports.

Bully for you Ken.....the points are important, I agree with you.  I'm second in Localism in my  Portsmouth NH area  and 7th in the state of NH and 4th in Rockingham county the county I work in .  This has to be worth something and will get me the exposure I want and need quicker than if I didn't have the points. It makes it more competitive this way, a little more fun...

Good Luck.....Keep blogging!!!

Ken, congrats on the milestone.  While the points do matter in some ways, as you have pointed out, the success that you have is not something in my area of less internet use, I have enjoyed.

Keep moving forward.  The next 1/4 million will be a snap!

Ken, points do matter when they put you at the top of your market for your keywords. Points don't matter if you're not writing content the public wants to read. Congrats on being a quarter of a millionaire in the Rain!

Some people will say ActiveRain points have no meaning.  If that is the case, then why have them?  In my opinion, ActiveRain points represent just how "active" the ActiveRain member is!  The level of points reflects how much effort one puts into their presence within this community.  Of course, you must be logged in to accumulate points!

It takes a lot of time and effort to reach 250,000 points!  ActiveRain awards a generous 100 points per day for simply logging in!  If all one does is log in on a daily basis, it would take nearly 7 years to accumulate 250,000 points.  By blogging, commenting, and building a substantial profile, one can reach that same level much sooner.  And the more one does within the community, the more valuable they will be perceived as among other members and potential clients.  ActiveRain points may not have a redeemable value but they say a lot about one's level of involvement!

Posted by Paul Franciskato (Asset Brokering Services) over 7 years ago

Congratulations Ken, this milestone is without a doubt, much work, dedication and knowledge shared with the Active Rain community....good job.

Wow, the power of being featured!

Jack Ehlert is a good man!

Maybe the 75% ratio means I need to work on other lead getting techniques.:)

It does take a lot of work keeping up w/ the activity here on Active Rain.  You have to stick with it...

I enjoy blogging/writing.  If I didn't like it, I wouldn't have been able to stick with it long enough to get results.

Thanks again everyone!
