5 Reasons 2013 Will Be My Best Year Yet

Thanksgiving has passed and Christmas is fast approaching.  These are natural times to reflect on the previous year, as well as look forward to the new year...

Personally, 2012 was a year filled with challenges.  I was able to face those challenges with a smile, however, and because of this, I judge 2012 as a huge success...

This past year also gave me the opportunity to reflect on what I want in life, as well as plan for the future...

With that in mind, I am extremely excited for 2013.  It will be a huge year for me both personally and for my businesses...

5 Reasons 2013 Will Be My Best Year Yet

  1. Exercise
Exercise is great for the mind, body, and soul.
As a former college athlete who ran both cross country and track, exercise has played an important part in making me who I am.  I had a great year of fitness in 2012 (I lost 20 pounds!).  I still run, and I practice yoga several times per week, enjoying both tremendously.
I hope to add headstands and handstands to my yoga routines in 2013, and will be running my first competitive race in over 15 years on January 1st 2013.

  2. My Girls
Due to family issues, I have spent far less time with my two girls, Erin and Morgan, than I would like. Those issues will be coming to a close soon, and I am excited about more consistent quality time with my two beautiful daughters.

  3. Naperville Scooters
I purchased my first scooter on September 1st, 2012.  I bought the bike as a cheap form of transportation, which became a hobby, then an obsession, and finally a business plan.
I am planning to open a scooter dealership, Naperville Scooters, in May 2013...

  4. Tracy Social Media Solutions
I have been helping people set up business pages on Facebook for several years.  I love talking about Facebook and social media, and I was helping businesses free of charge.
Those days are over.  I recently signed my first client, and have booked another two customers that I will be meeting with later this week.
My company helps businesses grow using Facebook and other social media.  I am extremely excited about helping businesses, and am blown away by the business potential of Tracy Social Media Solutions...

  5. Charles Rutenberg Realty
I recently decided that the time was perfect to make a change in my real estate business.  I am swtiching offices, and moving my real estate business to Charles Rutenberg Realty in Naperville
The Naperville office of Charles Rutenberg has 750 agents, making it by far the largest real estate office in the area.  Consistently ranked as a Chicago Tribune Top 100 Workplace, Charles Rutenberg is a tech savvy office, which offers their agents a generous compensation package
It is a breath of fresh air for me, and one that I feel will be a perfect match for me, my clients, and my business.

Again, I am very excited about finishing out 2012 strong and charging forward into 2013.

On August 7th of 2013, I will be celebrating my 45th birthday.  A half way point for me.  Everything I have done up until know has prepared me for what lies ahead.  I am ready...

I would encourage you to be ready too.  Whether you are 25, 45, 65, or 85, it is never to late to get started.  It is, after all,  the life in your years, not the years in your life...

Set some goals.  Dream big.  Write down your passions, because passion makes life fun...

And follow along with my story.  It will be an interesting one, I promise you...

Ken,

Great foundational plans for the year ahead.

Looks like work and fun rolled into all you do. Go break a leg!

Ken, well....maybe not break a leg but land on two athletic ones! Thanks for the post and for your willingness to share what works for you.

You ran cross country in college? That's awesome! I ran cc in high school but that was as far as my talent and dedication would take me.

I took a 15 year break from running, perhaps the dumbest decision I have made (thus far). I have gotten back into the grove and ran two marathons, but I am SUUUUPER slow these days.

Looks like you have a great plan for 2013, I wish you all the best.

Hi Doug and Joe.  Thanks!

Doug, I was overmatched in college at the University of Illinois.  It was tough!

It doesn't matter how fast you go, as long as you are moving forward!

Ken: I love your 2013 goals and that they include both professional and personal items.  It will be what you make it and it looks like you are well prepared for an outstanding 2013!

Ken, best wishes to you for a successful 2013.  Good luck with your race next month.  My son does Yoga and loves it along with rock climbing in a gym.  Very cute little girls.
