Embracing the wind and the imperfection of life in Naperville...

Good morning!

I went for a long walk this morning around my neighborhood in North Naperville…

On my walk, I noticed many of my neighbors had put in some time and effort blowing and raking the leaves off of their yards…

And while I do enjoy the appearance of a well kept and manicured lawn, I couldn’t help but wonder, “What is the point?”

Are we striving for perfection in an imperfect world?

For when the winds come, and they will come, the perfect yard will again be covered by leaves, blown from the street and from the neighbors yard…

This happens in life as well. We want our lives to be perfect. We get our hair done. We work out at the gym. We get manicures, pedicures, tummy tucks, nose jobs…

Do we do these things to make ourselves feel better? And if so, does it work?

When we strive for perfection, we will invariably fall short…

For life isn’t perfect. Neither are we. The winds in life will come, and toss our perfect little world upside down…

Our hair will be messed. Our schedule thrown off track. Our plans for the day will need to be changed…

So embrace the imperfection in life. Embrace the wrinkles…

Enjoy the wind. The rain. The cold. The heat. The traffic…

Enjoy life as it is. Enjoy it today. Enjoy it now…

For tomorrow is never promised…

The only guarantee is that the winds will indeed come. Life will throw us a curveball…

Will we be ready for it?

Turn every gripe into gratitude and you can embrace the un-embraceable. Right?

Hi Ken - why make the effort?  Because it shows you care.  Because it makes you feel good.  Because it makes a difference.   Because Because Because  For some reason I seem to be channeling The Wizard of Oz....
