A morning of comfort, doubt, and hope in Naperville...

Good morning!

I woke today in great comfort…

The kind of comfort that can only come from a warm and safe bed on a cold, dark December morning…

And I wallowed in that comfort.

Peacefully laying in bed for 30 minutes after waking, my thoughts were calm and happy…

The moment was good. I was safe in my home, with the blinds shut, the lights off, and the hustle and bustle of the outside world was where it should be. Outside…

And I am thankful for my bed, for it brings me the feeling of safety and comfort, even on the coldest and darkest of days…

Slowly, my thoughts turned to my day yesterday…

It had been a challenging day. One filled with doubts. Doubts about myself. My value as a person. My value to my family. My value to my friends. I had even questioned my value as a father to my girls…

Again, it had been a challenging day…

But I am thankful for yesterday and its challenges. Yesterday’s challenges have made me a stronger and more confident man, friend, and father…

As my thoughts turned to the day ahead, I started to feel a sense of optimism.

My day ahead is a full one. A mix of appointments, both real estate related and personal, but most importantly, filled with time spent with my daughters this afternoon and evening…

And I am thankful for today, for it will be a good one filled with many blessings personally and professionally…

My thoughts began to turn to the future. The week ahead, the end of the year, and the years to come…

Those thoughts were a mix of uncertainty and excitement…

After all, who really knows what the future holds?

I do know the future will be filled with more challenges, because facing ones own doubts and fears is part of what life is about…

But I also know the future holds great things for me. Great opportunities to touch lives and to make a difference. To be the best man, the best friend, and the best father that I can be on any given day…

And I am thankful for the future, for in the future there is always hope…

Hello Ken - it's good to be happy with the present, mindful of the past and optimistic for the future.  Happy Tuesday.

It sounds to me like time well spent in contemplation before the beginning of the day. More of us need to do this, I think.
