Ken's Naperville Real Estate Blog : "WE LOVE YOU KEN. WE WOULD NEVER USE ANOTHER REALTOR."

"WE LOVE YOU KEN. WE WOULD NEVER USE ANOTHER REALTOR."

Funny story.  True story.

It was last February.  One of my listings in River Bend had just come under contract.

The next day, I hung my SOLD panel beneath my FOR SALE sign.

The only better advertisement for a Realtor than a FOR SALE sign is one with SOLD underneath it!

As hoped, I received a call that very morning.  Neighbors.  They wanted to talk to me, so I agreed to meet with them that afternoon.

They didn't need to sell yet (or so they thought).  They wanted to sell by July, and it was only February.

I followed up with a phone call and said, "Whichever Realtor you choose..."

"Oh Ken, we love you.  We would never use another Realtor,"  she said.

Well she hasn't used another Realtor.  She has used 3.  So far.  She has also tried to FSBO it twice.

And she is still on the market.

I've had the same expierience, Ken. It's rather annoyiing, but I guess it's occasionally inevitable.

Hi Sharon and Robert.  It was funny.  She really said we love you.

Anyway, lots of people who never used me are still on the market.

I hope you get it soon and sell it fast.  Hard to tell what people are thinking when they speak to an agent.

Ken...

Send her a note a week until she lists again... Maybe you will get the opportunity to list it and she might actually listen to you.

Hi Debbie and John.  Thanks for stopping by.  Good ideas.

It bothered me at first but now I feel ok.

Morning Ken,

My motto with regard to the use of the word NEVER. Never say never except to say I never use the word never.

Obviously the owner of the home you mentioned has no clue as to what the definition of the word is.

Maybe you were the lucky one in that they didn't list with you. Sometimes not getting the listing is a true benefit.
