Ken's Naperville Real Estate Blog : I HAVE BECOME A NAPERVILLE "MOM"...

I HAVE BECOME A NAPERVILLE "MOM"...

My wife Nicole went back to work last July.  She is a pediatric dietician at Central DuPage Hospital.

While Nicole works, I watch our little girl Erin.  It is working out quite well...

Despite some challenges, I am running a fairly active and growing real estate business.

Nicole's steady paychecks are nice too...

Recently, however, "fatherhood" has gone a little too far...

I think I have become a Naperville "mom".

Let me explain.  Today went like this...

After driving my wife to work, my daughter and I go to the health club, Lifetime Fitness...

I drop Erin off at day care.  It's awesome.  They have a great staff and facility. It's free, too!

I am just in time for my 10:45 yoga class.  They have the temperature set way up.  Great workout.  I work up quite a sweat.

After yoga, Erin and I hurry home.  Erin gets grumpy when she is hungry.

We turn on cartoons.  Erin loves Super Why!

I prepare lunch.  Macaroni and cheese.  Our favorite.  I chop up hot dogs in mine.

I manage to squeeze in a little "real estate" while Erin plays.  Fortunately, she is pretty easy little girl.

Cleaning time.  Wash dishes.  Pick up after Erin.  I am always picking up after Erin...

Where does my day go?

Off to the supermarket.  I actually make a shopping list...

There is a Starbucks in the store, so I pick up a coffee.

Hot coffees in hand, kids in carts, the ladies of Naperville and I cruise the aisles...

A ritual?  Perhaps.

A reason to get out of the house?  Definitely.

When Erin and I finish our shopping, we are just in time to pick up Nickie after work.

We miss her...

Ken

Ken, don't you just love this business where we can be there for those we love?  One of my favorite perks in this industry is making my own schedule.  It sounds like yours is working out just fine.  You've got a lovely family.  Wishing you continued blessings.

And THAT is the best part of this profession...can you imagine missing any of those moments?

Hi Joe, Susan, and Maggie.  Thanks so much for reading.

The menu?  My wife is a dietician, too!:)

I appreciate all the moments.  Nickie and Erin are great friends, though.  I wish they could be together more.

It is great about the business.  It is working for us right now.  I would love to have more time, but we do what we can.

Thanks so much everyone,

Ken

Ken: Isn't it great that your family works like such a team. I love being a Realtor because I can spend time with Dave and the kids and still take care of my business. I'm sure that Erin will always remember her time with Dad. Before you know it, she will be in school, so enjoy! I love the family pic!

Hi Dawn.  Thanks so much.

I have my phone on all day.  I think I can run my business smoothly.

And my time with Erin is fun...

Thanks again,

Ken

And where did the real estate fit in?  It sounded like about 30 minutes... what are your days like when you have to show properties or go on a listing appt?  Alyssa and I play hookie every once in a while, but it's not an everyday occurrence, and not even a weekly occurrence.

Family before business!  Thanks for sharing a little of your life.  It is great to be around the kids when ever possible.

Hi JL, Teresa, Larry, David, Shirley, and Donna.  Thanks for reading.

These are happy times.

Donna, most of my showings happen nights and weekends.  When I need it, my mom helps watch Erin.

It is challenging, but rewarding as well.

Thanks again guys,

Ken
