Ken's Naperville Real Estate Blog : A GREAT VALENTINES DAY AT BASS PRO SHOPS. ISLAMORADA FISH COMPANY, BOLINGBROOK, ILLINOIS

A GREAT VALENTINES DAY AT BASS PRO SHOPS. ISLAMORADA FISH COMPANY, BOLINGBROOK, ILLINOIS

It was actually my wife that suggested it...

It was Valentines Day.  And we are going to a fishing store for dinner???

We ate at Islamorada Fish Company, located inside the Bass Pro Shops in Bolingbrook, Illinois.

We had never eaten at Islamorada.  I was somewhat hesitant at first.

I am a creature of habit, and my favorite local restaurant is Claras Pasta, in Lisle.

But what the heck...  I had heard good things.

Have you ever been to a Bass Pro?

                                    Bass Pro Shops

Awesome place.  An outdoorsmans dream.

The wait was going to be about an hour, so Kenny had a little time to shop...

                       Ken buys a fishing rod

I found exactly what I wanted.  A medium heavy spinning rod for my Shimano 4000 spinning reel.

Travis, the fishing guy, said "It is the best deal in the place."

Regularly $79.99.  On sale for $49.99.

We checked out the natural fish aquarium.  Filled with cool native species.

Erin smiles in front of the tank...

After shopping we still had a wait, so we stopped by the bar...

             The bar at Islamaradas

The aquarium alone was worth the trip.  Huge.  Filled with tropical fish.

Beautiful.

Nickie gets a hug from Erin before dinner...

I don't think she wanted Daddy to get jealous...

                  Ken and Erin

The food was great.  The setting fairly casual and family friendly.  Nice and reasonably priced...

             The Surf n Turf

I had the surf and turf.  It was great.  $21.95.  The baked potato was loaded with bacon, sour cream, and cheese.  Mmmm.

                  The Kids Brownie

The Kids Fish Brownie sundae was huge.  Enough for the whole family...

On the way out, I was nearly mauled by a grizzlie.  I guess bears like the smell of lobster...

Ken gets eaten by a grizzlie

We had a great night.

A great Valentines Day.

Dinner.  Family.  A little shopping thrown in...

I can't wait for fishing season.

Hey Ken,

Looks like your family had a blast!  :)

I've never been to a Bass Pro Shop, but we did drive past one on Valentine's Day.  The place is huge!

Ken, I always like the aquarium at Bass Pro. We have one here in Grapevine, TX. What a great day out with the family. Loved ALL of your pictures.

My husband went on his Christmas shopping spree (for himself) at Bass Pro Shop but we haven't eaten at the restaurant yet.  The food looks great.  I love the pictures of your family.

Sounds like a great time and the perfect place for a family outing. I had no idea Bollingbrook now had a Bass Pro.If you're ever in Missouri, be sure to stop in at the original store in Springfield.

Ken,

I didn't know that Bass Pro had a restaurant in them but then I have never been in a Bas Pro before either.

It sounds as though you and the family had a GREAT time.

Hi Don, Robert, Steve, Ilyce, Debbie, David, Shirley, Gary, and Bruce.

Thanks for reading.

It was great.  Especially since we had a wait.

Our daughter would get bored sitting in a waiting area...

But we could get out there and see so many things.

They have clothes, too!

I am excited about my new rod.

Thanks again, everyone.

So funny...my kids favorite place - no exaggeration here - is Cabellas.  They love the adventure and I love the restaurant as well.  I may have to look at the food there.  I love lobster....you got me dude.

Hi Ken,

Looks like you all had a fun day. Erin sure is getting big. Soon she will be taking you for a walk thru the farming areas.

Hi Hal and Larry.  Thanks for reading!

Erin is getting big.  She has to do everything herself, too.

Larry, I have yet to make it to a Cabellas.  I love big fishing stores.

Thanks again, guys.

Ken, you convinced me to go to Bass Pro.  I am a lifelong fisherman and have a most excellent Alumacraft fishing boat just waiting for spring.  I have been to the Bass Pro in MO but not the one here.  Thanks for sharing.

Now that sounds like a fantastic Valentine's Day! Any place that sells fishing poles is A-okay in my book:)

Ken - I spend my fair share of time at Bass Pro in Orlando...  I've also dined at the original Islamorda Fish Company on Islamorada in the Keys @ Worldwide Sportsman...  The fish is fresh out of the water and there is nothing like the salt air and the sunsets.  Looks like you had a wonderful and you really do have a lovely family - truly the greatest gift of all.
